How to do the Open Leg Rocker?

Kala here! Open Leg Rocker is one of my favourite exercises to introduce to folks because it's a little unexpected and unusual. Life is too serious and when a group of adults is trying to do hard things, the vibe can become stiff and nothing lightens the mood like this pallet cleanser of an exercise. Oh, Joe, you were quite the nut.

So for those who want to nail this move, here are some of my top tips.

  1. Your legs don't have to be straight, they can stay bent but try your best to lock them in a shape the whole time and avoid them bending more or less as you roll.

  2. If you don't make it back up, you need more momentum.

  3. If you fall forward you don't necessarily have too much force but you might need to pull back and "break" with your arms. Your grip should be firm and responsive on your legs. Pro tip: The ankles are the best spot to hold as they are the smallest part of the leg therefore you can get the best grip. However, this isn't always possible, so do your best and play with different spots to hold onto until you find one that works for you.
